Margot Robbie is in early talks to join Tim Burton’s remake of Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman for Warner Bros. If the deal goes through, Robbie will also produce the film with her LuckyChap partners Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara, and may star in the lead role.
Back in February, it was reported that Burton was developing a new version of the 1958 sci-fi horror classic. The original story follows a rich heiress who becomes a giant after an alien encounter and takes revenge on her unfaithful husband. Burton, known for The Nightmare Before Christmas, is set to direct and produce the film alongside Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper, with Kai Dolbashian as executive producer.
Gillian Flynn, who wrote Gone Girl, worked on the first draft of the script but left the project due to other work. The producers are now looking for a new writer, and Robbie’s final decision to star will depend on the updated script.

This project could be a major collaboration between two of Warner Bros.’ biggest recent partners. After the huge success of Barbie—which earned $1.45 billion worldwide in 2023 and became the biggest movie in the studio’s 100-year history—Warner Bros. signed LuckyChap to a multi-year first-look deal for future films. Robbie, a three-time Oscar nominee, will next be seen in the studio’s Wuthering Heights, Emerald Fennell’s take on the classic Emily Brontë novel, coming to theaters next February.
LuckyChap is also developing a new Ocean’s Eleven film at the studio, with Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung in talks to direct. Warner Bros. also had a strong 2024 with Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a sequel to his 1988 hit Beetlejuice, which made $452 million at the global box office nearly 40 years after the original.
The Insneider was first to report Robbie and LuckyChap’s involvement. Warner Bros. declined to comment.
