Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger has finished its fundraising theater run, and today brings great news — the partnership between Cineverse and Undue Medical Debt raised not just $5 million but actually tripled that amount, clearing $15 million in medical debt for over 10,000 people.
Starting August 29, Cineverse and Undue Medical Debt, a national nonprofit that helps families struggling with healthcare costs, matched every million dollars The Toxic Avenger earned at the box office, promising to erase $5 million no matter what. Reaching $15 million means three times as many people have been helped, showing that communities — especially horror fans — united by stories can make a real difference in the world.
In the long-awaited Troma reboot The Toxic Avenger, Peter Dinklage plays Winston Gooze, a struggling janitor who, before turning into the Toxie we all know and love, gets a terminal diagnosis. His treatment isn’t covered by his health insurance, which comes from a greedy company run by Kevin Bacon’s Bob Garbinger.

But the fight doesn’t stop here — Toxie fans can keep spreading the “oozy goodness” by donating to Undue Medical Debt and helping more families escape heavy medical bills.
