Actress Tara Reid claims she was drugged at a Chicago hotel bar after unsettling footage emerged showing her being taken away on a stretcher early Sunday morning. The video, obtained by TMZ, shows the American Pie star appearing nearly unconscious as several people attempt to place her into a wheelchair.
Reid, dressed in a tan fur coat with disheveled hair, had her arm wrapped around a man while resting her face against his shoulder. As they tried to secure her in the wheelchair, she began mumbling incoherently, her head swaying loosely. “Come on, guys,” the Sharknado actress said faintly as she remained motionless.
Once a member of the group began pushing her through the hotel lobby, Reid’s body went limp, causing her to slump halfway out of the chair with her midriff exposed. Several people stepped in to lift her back into position.
The video then cuts to paramedics escorting Reid through the lobby on a stretcher. According to TMZ, she was transported to a nearby hospital.
A representative for Reid confirmed to Page Six: “Tara Reid has filed a police report after an incident in which she believes her drink was tampered with. She is cooperating fully with the investigation.”
“Tara is recovering and asks for privacy during this traumatic time,” the rep added. “She also urges everyone to be careful, watch your drinks and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone. She will not be making further comments at this stage.”
A spokesperson for Rosemont Police told Page Six that they responded to an EMS call at the hotel Sunday morning and transported the patient to the hospital, but stated they have not received a report regarding claims of drugging.
In a statement to TMZ, Reid said she checked into her hotel room late Saturday and went to the bar to order a drink. She said she stepped outside for a cigarette, where she encountered a group of YouTubers and smoked with one of them. Upon returning, she noticed her drink was covered with a napkin she did not place there.
She said she drank from the glass, and the next memory she had was waking up in the hospital hours later. Reid told TMZ Live, “Without finishing my drink, I just passed out. Before I knew it, I was at the hospital, eight hours later. It’s really scary… You have to really be careful with your drink. [The hospital] said, ‘You got drugged last night at the bar.’”
Although Reid has previously struggled with substance issues, she told TMZ she consumed only one drink on Sunday night.
The investigation remains ongoing.
