Taylor Frankie Paul has been granted supervised visitation with her young son following a court ruling in her ongoing legal dispute with ex-partner Dakota Mortensen.
More than two weeks after Mortensen was awarded temporary custody of their 2-year-old child, the The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star appeared in court on April 7, where a judge issued an amended temporary protective order.
Under the ruling, Paul is permitted up to eight hours of supervised parenting time per week. The time can be divided into two- or three-hour increments. The arrangement will remain in place until the pair’s next scheduled court hearing on April 30.
Mortensen initially filed for a protective order against Paul on March 19 the same day a video surfaced online showing a 2023 altercation between the former couple, during which Paul threw a chair while a child could be heard crying in the background. Following that filing, the court granted Mortensen temporary custody and restricted Paul from any parenting time until the April 7 hearing.
In his restraining order request, Mortensen alleged that Paul was physically abusive during two separate incidents in February 2026. According to court documents, he claimed that during one argument, Paul choked him, pushed him into a window and threatened self-harm. He also alleged her “emotionally volatile” behavior woke their son, and when he attempted to calm the child, she pulled blankets off them and continued acting aggressively. He said he ultimately left the home with their child for safety.
Mortensen further claimed that the following night, Paul threw his phone against a wall and “physically blocked” him from leaving her home. As he attempted to exit, he alleged she grabbed and squeezed his face, threw a drink at him and struck parts of his car.
In the filing, Mortensen stated he sought the restraining order because he was “genuinely concerned for my safety and the safety and well-being of my child.”
Ahead of the April 7 hearing, Paul filed her own temporary restraining order request against Mortensen. In her filing, she alleged he had engaged in a “pattern of abusive conduct and coercive control” throughout their on-and-off relationship between 2022 and 2025. She is also requesting that their son be included under the protective order.
A separate hearing regarding Paul’s restraining order request is scheduled for April 30.
Representatives for both parties have been contacted for comment but have not responded.
The case continues to unfold amid broader controversy surrounding Paul. In addition to losing temporary custody, her upcoming season of The Bachelorette was shelved by ABC before its premiere following the resurfacing of past incidents.
At the time, a representative for Paul said she was “grateful” for the network’s support as she focuses on her family’s safety.
“After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation,” the statement read, “Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm.”
Mortensen, for his part, has denied the allegations made against him.
“I am, unfortunately, used to these baseless claims about me and our relationship, which I categorically deny,” he said in a March 19 statement, adding that he is focused on their son’s safety.
Separately, the West Jordan Police Department in Utah confirmed that authorities are investigating a third alleged domestic violence incident between the pair from 2024. That investigation is distinct from both the resurfaced 2023 video and the alleged February 2026 altercations.
With custody arrangements, restraining orders and multiple investigations now in play, the case remains ongoing and is expected to return to court later this month.
