We haven’t seen Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for more than three years and now, the actor has weighed in on whether fans can expect to see his character again in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Earlier this year, Marvel Television boss Brad Winderbaum confirmed that Isaac’s Moon Knight will return in the MCU, though not in a second season of his Disney+ series. Instead, Marvel Studios reportedly has other plans in the works for Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley, though details remain tightly under wraps.
Moon Knight premiered on Disney+ in 2022. While the series received mixed reviews, it was praised for Isaac’s compelling multiple-personality performance as the complex vigilante tied to the Egyptian god Khonshu.
The show concluded with Marc Spector and Steven Grant seemingly free from Khonshu’s control only for audiences to learn that a third identity, Jake Lockley, was still secretly acting on the Moon God’s behalf.
Originally, Moon Knight was rumored to have a key role in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but with Rama-Tut sidelined and the spotlight now shifting toward Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, the character appears to have been benched for now.
During an appearance at the Paris premiere of Netflix’s Frankenstein, Isaac was asked by a fan whether he’d appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. The actor replied candidly: “It’s a secret, you know… but no.”
While Isaac likely wouldn’t reveal such a major spoiler outright, his response suggests that Moon Knight won’t appear in the upcoming Avengers installments. As the report notes, inserting the character into either of the next films might not align with Marvel’s current direction.
Still, Isaac has expressed interest in returning to the MCU under different circumstances.
I thought there was an interesting opportunity with Midnight Sons. There’s such interesting characters in there, and now that we’ve set the groundwork with learning who Marc, Steven, Jake are, it could be an interesting opportunity to see him as part of a team and what that dynamic would be.
he previously said of his character’s future.
So I think that would be exciting, I think for me, I definitely hope there’s some room to explore that possibility.
the actor concluded.
If Midnight Sons becomes reality, it could unite characters like Moon Knight, Ironheart, and Ghost Rider against Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto a darker, supernatural corner of the MCU many fans have been anticipating.
Avengers: Doomsday is set for release on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
