One Game of Thrones actor has finally shared his opinion about the show’s controversial ending, more than six years after it aired on HBO. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau played Jaime Lannister, the son of Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) and brother of Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), in nearly every episode. Jaime’s story is one of the most rewarding in Game of Thrones, even though fans weren’t happy with where he ended up. Still, Coster-Waldau received two Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actor for the final two seasons.
In a recent interview with The Independent about his new show, King & Conqueror, Coster-Waldau was asked about the negative reaction to the last season of Game of Thrones.
It was expected. How are you ever gonna make an end that’s gonna satisfy everyone? That’s a very difficult thing.
he said
Making an ending that pleases everyone is hard, but making one that pleases no one is even rarer. The final season of Game of Thrones is often called one of the worst endings in TV history.
I absolutely think people are entitled to whatever opinion they have, but it’s a television show. Someone told you a story, and you didn’t like the ending. It’s really annoying…
Coster-Waldau didn’t insult fans who were unhappy with the Season 8 finale, saying
After seven seasons of great reviews, the final season got a 55% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences gave it a much lower 30%. HBO Max boss Casey Boys has confirmed that House of the Dragon Season 3 will come out next summer, likely in June or July. The show takes place about 200 years before Game of Thrones and tells the story of the Targaryens’ fall from power during the Dance of the Dragons.

It’s one of several spin-offs in development — fans can also expect A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms next year. That show happens between Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon and follows Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire as they travel across Westeros.
