Netflix’s licensing spree shows no signs of slowing down. The streamer is set to bring the comedy series Minx, originally an HBO Max and later Starz title to its US catalog this November.
The series will begin streaming on November 4, 2025, marking its official Netflix debut after being canceled following its run on Starz. Created by Ellen Rapoport, Minx follows a young feminist who teams up with a low-rent publisher to create the first erotic magazine for women in 1970s Los Angeles.
Originally one of the early HBO Max Originals, Minx faced a sudden halt when the platform decided to withdraw from producing further seasons, even as Season 2 was in progress. Starz stepped in to rescue the series, releasing both Seasons 1 and 2. However, the network eventually decided against renewing it for a third season. Until now, the show has been available exclusively on Starz, but that changes this November when it moves to Netflix.
Critically, Minx has been highly praised. Both seasons hold Certified Fresh ratings on Rotten Tomatoes Season 1 at 98% and Season 2 at 89% while audience scores are more mixed, with 54% on Rotten Tomatoes but a stronger 7.6/10 on IMDb.
At the time of writing, it’s not yet confirmed whether Netflix will stream both seasons, though reports suggest it will likely include both. For now, only Netflix US is expected to host the series.
Cast of Minx
The ensemble cast includes:
- Ophelia Lovibond (Guardians of the Galaxy, Elementary) as Joyce Prigger
- Jake Johnson (New Girl, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) as Doug Renetti
- Idara Victor (Rizzoli & Isles, Turn: Washington’s Spies) as Tina
- Jessica Lowe (Wrecked, Blended) as Bambi
- Lennon Parham (Playing House, Bless This Mess) as Shelly
- Oscar Montoya (Loot, Final Space) as Richie
- Michael Angarano (This Is Us, Sky High) as Glenn
- Rich Sommer (Mad Men, GLOW) as Lenny
- Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds, Big) as Constance
- Taylor Zakhar Perez (The Kissing Booth 2, Red, White & Royal Blue) as Shane Brody
The show also features an impressive lineup of guest stars, including Gillian Jacobs (Community), Hope Davis (Succession), Allison Tolman (Fargo), Samantha Sloyan (The Haunting of Hill House), Josh Stamberg (WandaVision), and David Paymer (Mr. Saturday Night).
This pickup is part of a broader deal between Lionsgate Television and Netflix. Recent additions include The Hunting Wives which premiered to strong reception and earned a Season 2 renewal as well as Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Hightown, Love Life, Spartacus, and Nurse Jackie.
For fans hoping Netflix might revive Minx for a third season, expectations should remain low. As What’s on Netflix notes, it would require “a barn-busting performance” on the platform to spark any continuation talks.
Minx arrives on Netflix US on November 4, 2025.
