Liz Kingsman has joined the cast of Netflix’s upcoming period drama remake of Pride and Prejudice. The actress and comedian will portray Anna de Bourgh, daughter of Fiona Shaw’s Lady Catherine. Production recently began in the UK.
Deadline previously reported that Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden and Olivia Colman will lead the series as Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy and Mrs. Bennet, respectively. Rufus Sewell is set to play the wise patriarch Mr. Bennet. The Bennet sisters will be portrayed by Freya Mavor, Heartstopper’s Rhea Norwood, and newcomers Hollie Avery and Hopey Parish. Louis Partridge takes on the role of scheming Mr. Wickham, Jamie Demetriou will play the pompous Mr. Collins, and Daryl McCormack stars as Jane’s suitor Mr. Bingley. Siena Kelly joins as Caroline Bingley, while Shaw plays the formidable Lady Catherine de Bourgh.
The series is penned by Everything I Know About Love writer Dolly Alderton and directed by Heartstopper’s Euros Lyn. Produced by Lookout Point, the project’s executive producers include Lyn, Corrin, Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter, with Lisa Osborne serving as producer.
Based on Jane Austen’s second novel, the story follows Elizabeth Bennet, the second of five unmarried daughters in Hertfordshire, whose family estate can only be inherited by a male heir. The plot explores themes of manners, morality, education, and marriage within British Regency society as Elizabeth encounters various suitors, including the misunderstood Mr. Darcy.
