Khloe Kardashian has revealed the chilling reason she hasn’t slept with the lights off in seven years. The Kardashians star shared on the Dec. 3 episode of her podcast Khloe in Wonder Land that a ghost encounter in a former rental home changed her nighttime routine permanently.
According to Khloe, the frightening experience began when her now–7-year-old daughter, True Thompson, was still a baby. She recalled waking up in the middle of the night to what she believed was a supernatural presence.
“She rubbed my hair—she did,” Khloe said of the apparition. “It was the scariest thing. I’ve never slept with the light off ever since.”
Khloe, who shares True and 3-year-old Tatum Thompson with ex Tristan Thompso,n explained that the incident occurred in a rental house she maintained in the Oaks. A hallway connected her bedroom to True’s, and she remembered hearing footsteps on the wood floors late at night.
“True was still in a crib, and she never got out of her crib, so I heard someone walking down,” Khloe said. “I was like, ‘True?’ and then I looked at the monitor, and she was still asleep, so I was like, ‘That’s weird.’ So I just laid back down—it was the middle of the night—and I shut my eyes.”
Moments later, Khloe felt something she describes as unmistakably real.
“I could feel it was a small hand,” she said. “I remember closing my eyes, going, ‘Please don’t be there, please don’t be there, please don’t be there.’ I opened my eyes—nothing was there. I was so freaked out.”
She said this wasn’t her only paranormal incident in the home. In another unsettling moment, she discovered the jacuzzi completely drained with a Barbie doll sitting at the bottom.
“The jacuzzi was completely drained with a Barbie doll at the very bottom of the jacuzzi like murder,” Khloe recalled.
Khloe has previously spoken about the ghost she believes haunted the house, describing the presence as a young girl who targeted True as well.
“She was horrible,” Khloe said in a July podcast episode. “Even True noticed her. True never had nightmares in her life and this girl would go in her room and wake her up. True would tell me about her.”
The encounters left Khloe so frightened that she refused to sleep alone. When True was still in her crib, she said, “I would sleep on the floor.”
