Netflix’s animated feature K-Pop Demon Hunters has made history, officially becoming the most-watched animated film ever on the platform. Within just six weeks of its premiere, the film has garnered over 26 million views and nearly 44 million hours watched, according to data released by Netflix on July 29, 2025.
Premiering on June 20, the film follows HUNTR/X, a fictional K-pop girl group that secretly battles supernatural forces. The storyline sees them clash with the Saja Boys, a demon-empowered rival boy band.
The film’s popularity has surged rapidly, gaining traction across social media and music streaming platforms. Its original soundtrack performed by the in-film idol groups has seen widespread acclaim, with several tracks topping Billboard’s global charts. Fans and critics alike have drawn comparisons to major real-world acts like BTS and BLACKPINK.
K-Pop Demon Hunters has spent six consecutive weeks in Netflix’s global Top 10 film rankings, surpassing previous animated hits such as The Sea Beast and The Monkey King to claim the top position.
In addition to its streaming success, the film’s music continues to drive fan engagement online, fueling speculation about a potential sequel. While no official announcement has been made, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos commended the project, calling it “original animation” that highlights “the importance of storytelling and innovation.”
K-Pop Demon Hunters is currently available to stream exclusively on Netflix, with its fanbase showing no signs of slowing down in their enthusiasm for the world of HUNTR/X.
