Cheers to the winner of the Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance category at the 76th Creative Arts Emmy Awards!
Julie Andrews won for her role in Bridgerton at the 2025 ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 6, in Los Angeles. Presenter Craig Robinson accepted the award for Andrews, who was not present.

Other nominees were Hank Azaria (The Simpsons), Maya Rudolph (Big Mouth), Alan Tudyk (Andor), Jeffrey Wright (What If…?) and Steven Yeun (Invincible). In a 2022 Today show interview about her role in the Netflix drama, Andrews said she has never met her costars and only sees them on TV like the audience.
You know I’ve never met the company in person. Of course, I see them on the show sometimes. But I do all my recording far, far away from them.
Andrews, 89, told co-host Hoda Kotb
Bridgerton premiered on Netflix in 2020. The Regency-era romantic drama shows the lives of elite British families and their romances through the eyes of mysterious gossip writer Lady Whistledown.
Created by Chris Van Dusen, produced by Shonda Rhimes and based on Julia Quinn’s book series, the show is loved for its story and beautiful locations.
I think it’s gorgeous looking, and they’re all wonderful in it and they’re lovely people to work with. Shonda Rhimes and the whole gang down, they’re terrific. And I’m thrilled that they asked me.
Andrews said on Today, when asked about the series
Andrews was nominated for her role as Lady Whistledown in 2021 and 2022, and for Queen Charlotte in 2023. Azaria was nominated for voicing Moe Szyslak in The Simpsons episode, “Abe League of Their Moe.” Azaria, 61, talked about his love for mimicking voices in a 2017 ABC News interview.
I didn’t realize until I was a young adult that … I was meant to do that professionally and it was a marketable skill — that kind of mimicry. And even when I realized I wanted to be an actor — which wasn’t until, like, I was in college — I still didn’t connect that that mimicry could be a good part of that.

He has been nominated six times in the same category and won four times. Rudolph was nominated for voicing Connie the Hormone Monstress in Big Mouth’s episode “Why Do We Go Through Puberty?”
Rudolph, 53, explained how she created Connie in an interview with Backstage.
She’s got a very melodic voice, for sure. The elements of her being a monster and hormonal, I was trying to create this game of highs and lows as well as big. She’s a big, hairy lady! That really speaks a lot to the joy of doing voiceover and animation: you can really be anything.

Rudolph has been nominated twice and won three times for this role. Tudyk was nominated for playing K-2SO in the Andor episode “Who Else Knows?” He told StarWars.com that he has seen how much fans love his character.
The neat stories that I always just love to hear are the ones between fathers and daughters, mothers and sons. K-2 and Rogue One are things that families connect over. Although for kids, ‘I’m like, God, wow, kids are growing up fast because everyone dies.’ For me, it would’ve been traumatizing, but I was a kid from the seventies.

Tudyk, 54, was previously nominated for Outstanding Actor In A Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series for Con Man in 2017. Wright was nominated for voicing The Watcher in the episode “What If… 1872?” of Disney+’s What If…? Wright, 59, told Marvel.com the character is “an interesting one.”
He’s got these strange powers that we’ve never really witnessed before. He has access to these worlds, and he has a type of vision that is pretty much singular to him. There was a lot of stuff to be excited about, and to play with, and to try to figure out. The Watcher is introduced on the cover of 1963’s FANTASTIC FOUR as the most dramatic being in all of the universe. If you get asked as an actor to play something like that, you kind of take interest! It’s all about that drama. He’s born into the Marvel Universe in an interesting way, popping out on the moon there with the Fantastic Four. I wanted to find out who he was so that I could figure out, how might he sound for the first time, hearing him?

This year, Wright is also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series for The Last of Us.
Yeun was nominated for his voice work in the episode “What Have I Done?” of Invincible.
The animated series explores father-son relationships, which made Yeun reflect on being a dad.
I think these are hitting universal truths of what it means to mentor somebody and be mentored by somebody. What it means to truly love somebody, what it means to make difficult decisions, where they might misunderstand you. There’s many levels.
Yeun, 41, told PEOPLE in February at the show’s premiere
The Beef actor has two kids, daughter Ruth, 6, and son Jude, 8, with his wife Joana Pak.
He was also nominated for Outstanding Limited Or Anthology Series and Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie for Beef in 2023.
