Jimmy Kimmel took aim at former President Donald Trump during Monday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! following Trump’s harsh reaction to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance.
Addressing the controversy, Kimmel opened his monologue by referencing Trump’s public takedown of the performance.
“Bad Bunny got a bad review from our bad president, unfortunately,” Kimmel said during Monday’s broadcast of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” “He wrote, ‘The Super Bowl halftime show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst ever. It makes no sense. It’s an affront to the greatness of America and doesn’t represent our standards of success, creativity, or excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A and around the world.’ This is a man who paid off a porn star who spanked him with his own face on a magazine.”
Kimmel also turned his attention to conservative organization Turning Point USA and its competing programming, the “All American Halftime Show.” The late-night host mocked the alternative event, suggesting TPUSA missed an opportunity for more provocative branding.
Kimmel then went after Turning Point USA’s rival programming, the “All American Halftime Show.” The late-night host joked that TPUSA should’ve “put on the Kristi Noem Shoots-Her-Puppy Bowl because this was not a good program.”
The comedian continued to criticize conservative media responses to the Super Bowl coverage, arguing that their counter-programming efforts fell flat.
“[Conservatives] complain about how bad everything is, and then they do it worse,” Kimmel added. “And not only do they do it worse, they do it in jorts. Of course, the gang at Fox News thought it was great, and Turning Point, they seemed happy with it too.”
The show then aired a clip of a Turning Point USA representative speaking with Fox News host Brian Kilmeade, who said the organization intends to continue producing its own halftime-style events in the future.
The show then cut to a TPUSA rep telling Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade that the organization plans to do “another halftime show for the country next year.”
Kimmel closed the segment with another punchline aimed at the prospect of future alternative halftime events.
“Next year it will be Lara Trump with a Ted Nguyen cover band,” Kimmel quipped. “They’ve got to do it for the country.”
