British actor and activist Jameela Jamil, best known for The Good Place and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, will guest star in the BBC’s new six-part legal drama The Split Up.
Set within Manchester’s high-net-worth divorce circuit, the series follows the Kishan family, a powerful British South Asian law firm whose success and loyalties come under strain. Filming began this week, with Jamil seen on set alongside Ritu Arya, who plays Aria Kishan.
Jamil — also a radio host in her native U.K. — last appeared on television in 2023’s Poker Face.
The ensemble cast includes Sanjeev Bhaskar (Unforgotten), Aysha Kala (Virdee), Arian Nik (Film Club), Danny Ashok (Dinosaur), Dimitri Leonidas (Those About to Die), Mawaan Rizwan (Juice), Sindhu Vee (Matilda the Musical), Shalini Peiris (The White Lotus), and Tom Forbes (Queenie). Guest appearances by Lenny Henry and Jane Horrocks are also confirmed.
With story and characters by Ursula Rani Sarma (Smother, Delicious), The Split Up builds on the world of Abi Morgan’s acclaimed drama The Split, which starred Nicola Walker, Stephen Mangan, and Annabel Scholey.
Morgan returns as executive producer, alongside Sarma, Jane Featherstone (Black Doves, Coldwater), and Bryony Arnold (Code of Silence, Peaky Blinders). The series is produced by SISTER in association with Little Chick, with BBC Studios handling global distribution.
