Happy Gilmore 2 is smashing streaming milestones, becoming the most-watched movie in Nielsen’s streaming rankings.
According to Nielsen Streaming data, the long-awaited comedy sequel topped the charts for the week of July 21–27 with 2.9 billion viewing minutes. The film premiered on Netflix on July 25.
That total marks the highest single-week viewing figure ever recorded in the history of Nielsen’s streaming top 10. The previous record holder was Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which reached 2.2 billion minutes upon its December 2023 debut.

The sequel also delivered the best streaming launch for an Adam Sandler film. Nielsen reports that Sandler’s Netflix projects have collectively generated more than 61 billion viewing minutes to date. The actor has appeared in nearly a dozen Netflix originals, including Murder Mystery, Hubie Halloween and The Week Of.
Netflix previously confirmed that Happy Gilmore 2 drew 46.7 million views in its first three days, with views defined as total hours watched divided by runtime. This represented the biggest U.S. opening weekend ever for a Netflix film, and the strongest debut of Sandler’s career on the platform. The movie has remained in Netflix’s global Top 10 for four consecutive weeks.
Arriving nearly 30 years after the original 1996 comedy, which earned $40 million at the box office, Happy Gilmore 2 reunited Sandler with returning co-stars Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald. The cast also expanded to include Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny, NFL star Travis Kelce, and Sandler’s wife and daughters Jackie, Sunny, and Sadie.
