Gigi Hadid has spoken out after her name appeared in documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein, calling the situation “disturbing” and making it clear she had no connection to him.
The supermodel addressed the issue following the release of Epstein-related files by the U.S. Department of Justice, which included a December 2015 email exchange mentioning both Gigi and her sister Bella Hadid.
In the exchange, a redacted individual questioned how the Hadid sisters achieved success in modeling, writing, “How did the Hadid sisters became models and make so much money?! I don’t understand…” Epstein responded, “You know,” prompting the individual to speculate, “The father paid the agency,” to which Epstein replied, “No.” He later added, “Because they follow directions, its that simple.”
Hadid publicly reacted after a social media user commented on her March 29 Instagram post, saying they had unfollowed her because she had not addressed the files. In response on March 30, she wrote that the documents “made me sick to my stomach.”
“Horrible to read someone you’ve never met speak about you that way. Especially in this context,” she explained. “I didn’t comment bc I don’t want to take away from the stories of real victims of his; but your comment made me realize maybe its not clear—and it’s important to let you know.”
Hadid, who shares daughter Khai, 5, with ex Zayn Malik, also reflected on her upbringing. She said that although she “grew up privileged,” her parents, Mohammed Hadid and Yolanda Hadid, instilled strong values in her.
“After signing to a modeling agency in 2012, I’ve worked hard every moment since,” she added.
Addressing the timeline, Hadid noted she would have been around 20 or 21 years old when the email was written, emphasizing how unsettling it felt to be referenced in that context.
“To be named in those files… is disturbing,” she said. “And I want to state unequivocally that I have never had any affiliation with that disgusting human being.”
Epstein, who previously accepted a plea deal related to prostitution charges, was arrested again in July 2019 on federal charges including sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy. He died by suicide in prison weeks later.
Hadid’s statement underscores the broader impact of the document release, as individuals named regardless of involvement navigate the public scrutiny surrounding one of the most high-profile criminal cases in recent history.
