Author and producer Colleen Hoover, best known for It Ends With Us and Regretting You, has shared a positive update on her health following treatment for cancer.
Hoover posted a message on Facebook addressing recent speculation and clarifying her current condition. “Just clarification because of some misleading clickbait making it sound like I’m on my deathbed or something, but I do not have cancer anymore,” she wrote. “I was diagnosed sometime last year, had surgery that was successful, just finished radiation yesterday.”
She added, “I am done and good and all is well and has been well. My doctors doctored. Hell yeah.”
The author first revealed her diagnosis in December but did not disclose the type of cancer. Last week, she shared that she was undergoing radiation therapy at Texas Oncology, documenting the experience through Instagram Stories.
“Second to last day of radiation,” read one of her posts. “I wish I could blame my hair and facial expressions on @Texas.Oncology, but they’ve been great. Hope you never need them, but highly recommend them.”
Earlier this month, Hoover reflected on possible causes of her illness, suggesting it was “likely environmental/lifestyle” related, citing factors such as “lack of exercise, poor diet and stress.” She also said genetic testing ruled out hereditary causes, HPV, and excessive hormones.
Her candid humor continued in another post, where she wrote, “I’m happy and grateful to be alive but I hate vegetables,” adding, “I hate when I have to get off the couch. I hate sweating. I hate when science is right.”
She went on to joke, “If you see me at the gym, don’t even tell me good job,” and, “If you see me at a restaurant eating grilled chicken and drinking water, I’m probably real mad about it.”
Hoover also explained that she became aware of health concerns while filming Reminders of Him in Canada. “When I returned home, I found out I had cancer,” she wrote, noting it had “been removed through surgery” followed by radiation treatment.
She said the experience caused her to miss several professional and personal milestones, including the premiere of Regretting You. “While it felt huge and scary for a bit… I just wasn’t ready to share with anyone until I knew what the outcome would be,” she explained.
Hoover’s latest novel, Woman Down, was released on January 13. She also addressed questions about a potential book tour, telling fans, “I wanted to make this post and be transparent about why that is,” adding, “I’m not saying I won’t be up to doing at least one signing, but I just won’t know until I know.”
She concluded by reassuring fans that she is doing well and encouraged others to stay attentive to their health, urging them to “listen to your body” when something feels “off.”
Reminders of Him is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 13.
