Veteran British actor Celia Imrie delivered what viewers are calling the “TV moment of the year” on Celebrity Traitors after nervously breaking wind during a tense challenge introduction.
The 73-year-old Calendar Girls star made the unexpected noise on Wednesday’s episode as host Claudia Winkleman addressed the contestants about their next task.

Caught off guard, Winkleman asked, “What just happened?” prompting laughter across the room. Imrie responded candidly, “I just farted, Claudia. It’s nerves, but I always own up,” sparking even more laughter from the group.
“I always own up too,” Winkleman replied, reassuring the actor before calling the group to order so the challenge could continue.
The humorous exchange quickly went viral, with fans flooding social media to celebrate the moment. One viewer joked, “Celia Imrie winning a Bafta for best ‘on-screen fart’ was not something I was expecting this year.” Another added, “That’s it, the TV moment of the year. Give her all the Baftas. Nothing is topping it.”
A third viewer declared, “Celia Imrie farting in a room full of celebrities is TV gold,” while another asked, “Who had Celia Imrie farting from fear on their TV moment of the year bingo card?”
While Imrie’s comedic honesty stole the show, the episode also featured dramatic twists, including two banishments and a “murder.”
YouTube star Niko Omilana and EastEnders actor Tameka Empson were both voted out after suspicions of being traitors, only to reveal they were faithful. “I can’t believe I’m out so quickly,” said Omilana, 27, after his exit.
Meanwhile, in the traitors’ turret, Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr, and Cat Burns plotted their next move, ultimately choosing retired Olympic diver Tom Daley as their next victim.
The group realized Daley had been “murdered” when he failed to appear at breakfast.
It was just the kind of impact I wanted, people couldn’t believe it, ‘Where’s Tom? Why Tom?’ Well, he’s been murdered. Deal with it.
Reflecting on the moment, Carr, 49, said:
I’m a little disappointed that I’m out a bit early but, at the same time, it was so much fun to be able to get a little bit of a glimpse into the Traitors world. The castle itself is absolutely huge, and actually going in and having a chance to look around was thrilling; searching for that secret room, wondering which book might open the hidden door, taking in as many of the details as possible. I have had so much fun in there. Being able to just be with that group of people was so much fun, being able to have conversations with some really interesting people.
