A potential character exit could be on the horizon in Beyond Paradise Season 3, as beloved character Anne Lloyd, played by Barbara Flynn, drops a major personal bombshell in the latest episode.
During the emotionally charged scene, Anne is spotted examining a suspicious mole on her back when Zoe (Melina Sinadinou) unexpectedly walks in and reacts with concern.
“I had one of those,” Zoe tells Anne. “That’s what it is, isn’t it? A dodgy mole?“
Taken aback, Anne replies, “Where on earth did you come from?” Zoe explains, “Sorry, Martha asked me to drop these off. Homemade fish fingers for little Rosie.”

Zoe also asks if Anne had met Rosie yet, to which Anne answers no, adding that Martha wanted to give the little one more time to settle in.
Refocusing on Anne’s health, Zoe gently warns: “Anyway, it is bad if it is crusty or changes shape, I think. Sorry, I didn’t mean to pry.“
Anne brushes it off with a nervous laugh, “It’s alright, I am sure it is nothing.” But when Zoe offers to take a closer look, Anne declines—prompting Zoe to urge her to see a professional.
Actress Barbara Flynn offered more context about the storyline, teasing a pivotal shift for her character this series. “At the end of the previous series, Anne was in a very tender and vulnerable place. She had experienced a terrible betrayal and a profound loss of trust.”

In this new series, she’s busy trying to move on with her life in a very focused and solitary way, throwing herself into tasks to keep going. Then, out of nowhere, a bombshell hits. It’s a shock.
Flynn also hinted at Anne’s evolving dynamic with Zoe, describing their connection as “not exactly a grandmother-granddaughter relationship,” but more “a unique, evolving friendship.”
Instead of confiding in Martha, who Anne feels reluctant to burden, Zoe manages to draw it out of her in her direct, youthful, clumsy, yet completely adorable way.
She explained
Anne is, in a way, forced to take action because of Zoe’s persistence. She likely would have done something eventually, but Zoe’s involvement gives her a push to act sooner.
Meanwhile, a teaser for next week’s episode hints at more drama ahead: “A chocolatier falls under suspicion when three customers are poisoned after sampling her wares. Humphrey must explore every avenue to determine whether she orchestrated the attack or was framed.”
Beyond Paradise airs Fridays at 8pm on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
