Anne Hathaway gives one of her most underrated performances in a sci-fi thriller from 11 years ago that’s now trending on streaming. Directed by Christopher Nolan, Interstellar is climbing the charts on Pluto TV, which is free to watch.
Hathaway plays Dr. Amelia Brand, the daughter of top NASA scientist Professor James Brand (Michael Caine). She joins the Endurance mission to find a new home for humanity. Amelia is in charge of setting up life on a new planet, while Cooper serves as the lead pilot. The cast also includes John Lithgow, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Topher Grace, and Timothée Chalamet.
Critics have called Interstellar one of Nolan’s most ambitious films. It has a 73% score on Rotten Tomatoes and was a box office hit, earning $758.6 million worldwide on a $165 million budget. Some of that came from its re-release last year for its 10th anniversary.
The movie received five Oscar nominations and won Best Visual Effects. Hathaway also earned a Saturn Award nomination. She has worked well with Nolan in the past and teamed up with him again for his next big film, The Odyssey, which finished filming on August 8.
The Odyssey follows the 10-year journey of Odysseus, king of Ithaca, after the Trojan War. It’s based on the poems by Greek author Homer. Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, with Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal also in the cast. Only Damon’s role is confirmed, but reports suggest Hathaway will play Penelope, Odysseus’ wife. The first trailer for The Odyssey, set to release in theaters on July 17, 2026, is expected in the coming weeks.
